Gerriets Curtain Hanger
This project was developed upon request from Gerriets, a German company specializing in stage equipment, curtains, and technical systems for theatres and events, with a history dating back to 1946.
The brief focused on developing a new wall-mounted hanger for curtains. Based on the company’s requirements, we explored and developed multiple design options, considering functionality, aesthetics, and ease of use to create a suitable solution for their product range.
Gerriets provided this reference image of the existing curtain hanger used in their offices. They wanted to replace it because of its outdated appearance and explore more modern alternatives that could also reduce production costs.
Design Solution 01
The first design solution introduces a simple plastic cover that conceals the curtain hardware while maintaining the same functionality as the original hanger. The design was developed as a single-piece component, reducing manufacturing complexity and simplifying assembly. Using plastic instead of steel or other materials also offers a more cost-effective production solution, making this option a strong balance between aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturing efficiency.
Design Solution 02
The second solution builds on the first concept while addressing an important issue with accessibility. In the first design, removing the cover required the curtains to be detached from the hanger. To solve this, the new design was divided into two separate parts that can be locked and unlocked independently from each side. This allows the cover to be removed without affecting the original hanger or the curtains, making the solution more practical and adaptable while maintaining the same overall concept.
Design Solution 03
The third solution takes a completely different approach, introducing a new curtain hanger with a different material and a multi-part construction. The design features a sliding mechanism that moves forward and backward, providing improved functionality and easier curtain adjustment. Although it requires more components and a different manufacturing process, it was developed as an alternative for Gerriets’ request to explore a completely new curtain hanger system.

3C Carina Sofa Project
This project was developed for a modern sofa manufacturer in Germany " 3C CARINA " During the final stage of my internship.
As the project began near the end of my internship, my involvement focused primarily on the initial research and concept development phases. I contributed to analyzing existing products, exploring design directions, and developing early sketches and form concepts. This experience gave me insight into how a professional furniture company approaches the early stages of product development and translates market and user needs into new design concepts.

During my internship in Germany, I contributed to the final prototyping phase of a material sample stand developed for Gerriets, a company specializing in stage and theater technology. The stand was designed to support the manufacturing process by giving workers an organized way to view, handle, and compare different materials. It presents key information such as material type, texture, color, and identification codes, making material selection faster and more efficient during production. My role focused on building and refining the physical prototype, translating the existing design into a functional product while considering usability and manufacturing requirements.
